Aircon Regassing
Air conditioning plays a crucial role in keeping us comfortable while driving. Hence, it is vital to ensure that your car’s air conditioning system is functioning efficiently. Regular maintenance is required to keep your car’s air conditioning system in good working order. At GX, we have the latest aircon equipment and highly experienced mechanics who can perform air con regassing on all vehicle makes and models. To make your experience even more convenient, we offer an easy-to-use online booking system. Simply visit our website and book your air con regas at a time that suits you best. Alternatively, you can contact our service reception. We’re here to assist you.
WHATS INCLUDED?
The aircon regas process involves removing old refrigerant gas and oil from the air con system and replacing it with the right amount of new refrigerant and lubricant, as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. To ensure that there are no cracks or damage in your vehicle’s air conditioning system that could cause the gas to leak out, a vacuum/leak test is also performed.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY AIRCON NEEDS REGASSING?
If your Aircon is blowing out warm air or only works intermittently, an aircon regass can bring back cold air when you need it most, especially on hot days. It can also improve fuel efficiency as there is less strain on the system and engine. Unpleasant smells coming from the air vents also suggest that your air con needs some attention.Aircon regas will typically take approximately 1 hoursto carry out but we do recommend keeping the vehicles here on site a little longer to monitor the aircon once regassed.
If your car’s air conditioning system is not recharged regularly, it will become less effective and have to work harder to produce cool air. This puts more strain on the engine and uses more fuel, leading to increased fuel consumption. To save on fuel costs, it is recommended that you have your air con recharged every two years, as per the manufacturer’s instructions. However, it is important to note that your car’s air conditioner is not checked during the MOT test, and regassing is not typically included in a service. Therefore, it is important to include air con recharging as part of your regular vehicle maintenance routine.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH TYPE OF AIRCON GAS MY CAR HAS?
R134A gas is common in vehicles manufactured before 2014. All vehicles with air conditioning manufactured since 1st January 2017 include the new R1234YF air con gas which is more environmentally friendly. Since this date, manufacturers are no longer allowed to use the older R134A air con gas in a bid to reduce global warming as the old gas is believed to be more damaging to the environment. R1234YF gas was phased in by vehicle manufacturers over time so vehicles rolling off the production line between 2014 and 2016 could require either gas. To find out which type of air conditioning gas your car needs and to start a booking to have your air con gas recharged please feel free to give service reception a call and well be able to let you know.
